Been a while — Where have I been?

A crappy picture I took at high speeds of Seattle from the West Seattle Bridge

Hello there, dark abysmal void of the internet. It is yours truly coming back to you again after a long absence (and a promise to make updates on a senior thesis that were never continued).

How have things been?

Good?

Not good?

Glad/sorry to hear that!

Me? Yeah, things have been quite well for me, all things considered at least. You want me to update you on the last five months? Well, I can’t quite do that, but I can at least give you the spark notes to them at least.

I’ll start with the senior thesis.

. . . Yeah, I finished it and got a good grade on it. If you don’t recall, my whole goal was to rewrite the first few chapters of first drafted novel into an entire novel of itself. I’m still working on actually finishing the story itself, just because I definitely set a larger goal for myself than I initially thought, but I’m still hopeful. Just working on other things as well.

I have been giving myself a bit of a break, just because I worked myself a bit too hard on it at first, which caused some major burnout midsemester, as well as some other health issues . . . but yeah, I’m getting back on track, and am hoping to start writing more regularly.

So I graduated. Yeah, that’s a bit of old, but it’s a thing that I honestly wasn’t sure I could do. So the fact that I actually did complete my degree is pretty freaking awesome!

Since then, I’ve moved up to Seattle, and have been actively job searching, which is a lot more competitive than I thought. It’s honestly hilarious at times how competitive it gets! It’s not quite cutthroat, because most of it is online, but it’s crazy how one moment you think you found a job, that’s just been posted, and within a day it will have over 200 applicants! It’s absolutely crazy!

To make money, I’ve been doing art commissions, freelance consulting for friends and acquaintances, and babysitting (all the while living with my parents). It’s not the most glamorous of lifestyles, but it’s definitely working, and I am thankful each and every day for the love and support my family is giving me while I’m trying to get my life figured out!

As I mentioned earlier, was having some health issues come up during the last semester of school. They started around March-time, and have been a bit of a pest to deal with since, but we have been making progress. The official prognosis I received was that I have Sinus Tachycardia — which simply defined means that my heart will just sometimes decide to go over 100 beats per minute for no direct or apparent reason. I’m still communicating with doctors regularly about it — it’s not life-threatening at this point (or so we believe), so it really is just a matter of finding ways to manage and treat the symptoms.

What else . . . Well, I’ve been doing art more regularly!

Because I really want to work in the game industry, I’ve recently started doing pixel art on the side, in hopes that gaining such a knowledge (as well as some basic programming knowledge, which I’ve been trying to teach myself on the side), that it could potentially boost my resume and whatnot to make me appear more desirable.

This is just a basic idle gif of my character, Aufnaher, who happens to be the protagonist of my children’s book project.

The process of making animated pixel dolls like these is a grueling and time-consuming process of figuring out one pixel at a time what looks right and what doesn’t.

It’s kind of like a slider puzzle, that needs to connect to the slider puzzle below it? Like a topographical slider puzzle? After a while, you get the hang of how things should look, and once you hit that point, the process actually becomes quite fun!

This image is of Aufnaher running (obviously).

Sooo yeah. That’s all I’ve got for this quick blog really.

I mean, there could be a lot more said here, but at this point, I think I need to just get back on the horse and regularly start posting stuff again. I’m hoping to become more active with blogging again, potentially showing insights on my different projects, and make this almost like a live journal on my life and whatnot.

Should be fun.

As a goodnight song suggestion, here’s a fun piece I’ve enjoyed listening to

Duces
